Ken
Tola has been successfully providing multi-tiered,
distributed solutions for over 15 years. Ken initially
started as a network engineer prior to delving into
application development, systems integration and
enterprise architecture. Ken has a broad range of skills
that have enabled him to provide a range of services from
executive management and strategic IT consulting to deep
programming and integration efforts. From a data
architecture perspective, Ken has extensive experience
with SQL Server (dating back to SQL Server 6.5), Oracle
(dating back to Oracle 7) and Business Objects (dating
back to Business Objects 5.0). Ken has utilized SQL Server
Analysis services to create OLAP databases and cubes that
he leveraged in order to provide ad-hoc reporting and data
mining solutions.
Ken also worked on Business Objects teams that
consolidated enterprise data stores into central Oracle
repositories which were then used as the basis of Business
Objects universes. Ken has worked on numerous custom
business intelligence acceleration efforts utilizing both
internal database tools, such as rolling up data and
snowflake database designs, as well as external, business
layer tools such as query caching and in-memory batch
processing.
Ken has utilized a range of approaches to resolve various
integration needs over the years. He has used Enterprise
Architecture Integration (EAI), Service-Oriented
Architecture (SOA) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
approaches to name a few. These solutions invariably
involved disparate platforms such as Unix, Windows and
Linux as well as different programming languages from C++
to Java to .NET. Ken has also built large scale enterprise
solutions for clients such as the Department of State and
Health and Human Services (HHS) Command Center.
